Biography
Formila founder, Reinhard Schmoelzer was born in Klagenfurt, Austria in 1970.
His career began early in 1985 as an apprentice carpenter in which he won several
awards for his craftsmanship including the grand prize in Austria for his work.
He completed his carpentry career with a Master title during which he won the
grand prize in Austria in 1991 with his self-designed furniture masterpiece.
The same year he began his undergraduate studies in furniture and interior design
in Poechlarn, Austria. |
He then went on to earn his Masters Degree in
Industrial Design at the University of Essen, Department of Art & Design
in Germany. In 2001, his diploma work at the university won the prestigious
Junior Design Prize from the Design Center Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. During
his studies he worked as an independent industrial, interior, architectural and
furniture designer in Germany and Austria. In 2002 he joined Morphosis Architects
in Los Angeles, CA. He then went on to found Formila in 2004. |
